Hi Martin! Thank you for sharing on such an important skill for BCBAs! I went through intensive training on this when working at Bierman and really find it as one of the top three most important skills in my tool box. When training Supervision Students how to conduct component composite analyses I would love to hear of any resources you utilize, to ensure you are conducting a thorough training!

Kaitlin, thanks so much for this! What a great question/observance. First, I think it's important for us to be able to "categorize" some of our (and our learners) most common behaviors. When I say "categorize", I mean that the supervisees need to have a clear understanding of how a common behavior (browsing for a movie on Netflix for example), belongs to a certain behavioral category (Scanning). In the past I would do this over and over again with my supervisees: Have them label a common behavior and then label which "category" or "operant" it belongs to. Once we have the answer to that, we can trace the category to its simplest form and work from there. Don't worry, I'll post more on this later--and can provide resources as well. Second, I think we're going to see a LOT more info regarding component-composite analysis going forward. Out of curiosity, if you had to name the other two of your "top three" skills, what would those be? Love getting feedback :)
